KATERINA MATECHOVA IS AN INDEPENDENT CRAFTSMEN AND JEWELLERY DESIGNER BASED IN PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC. SHE DESIGNS LIMITED EDITION COLLECTIONS, AND ALSO CRAFTS SPECIALLY TAILORED PIECES FOR INDIVIDUAL CUSTOMERS.

She often works with a variety of materials paying close attention to the details of current design. Her combination of meticulous spirit and endless patience complicates her life from time to time. Katerina has been working in the field of jewellery design since 2000 and since then has been developing her deeply individual approach. Her works often intersect several disciplines, from fine arts to classic jewellery.

“A typical attribute of my work is the multiplication of one key segment, which I fall in love with at that time. I’m often extremely patient when I’m focused on my work, but when it is over, I become terribly impatient”.

Kateřina was educated at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, in K.O.V. studio under the guidance of Vratislav Karel Novák and Eva Eisler.

In 2008 Kateřina was nominated for the Czech Grand Design Award in the category Discovery of the Year. In 2012 she was nominated for Jewellery Designer of the Year for her diploma project Autoforms. This particular collection was awarded by the Marzee Gallery Annual Marzee Selection of Graduate Work Jewellery from International Academies and Colleges prize in the Netherlands.

Kateřina is a founding member of the Dechberoucí studio and also a founding member of UNOSTO, a collective of jewellery designers.
